A brocade on the Frank Hartung’s Black Rose guitar

Le January 7th, 2014 par Joris K. | Guit... art | Guitares électriques | Lutheries

The luthier Frank Hartung just announced on his Facebook page the launch of “Black Rose”, an electric guitar limited to 25 models. When I saw this guitar, I immediately asked for several pictures and information to Frank to write this post. The shape is based on the Junico guitar, which has a Mahogany body and neck, but with a table embellished with a black, gold and silver brocade (a rich fabric woven with a raised design). Other changes, the Rosewood fretboard is here in Ebony, and we will hear the sound of two Häussel Humbuckers under the chrome covers instead of the P90 pickups. The pickguard also disappeared, so the lucky 25 owners will be able to admire completely these finishes.

Inspiré par la chanson When The Music’s Over de The Doors, l’artiste a utilisé différentes techniques pour cette Lust For Life – Trans Red revisitée.

WillemXSM: drawings, tattoos… And guitars!

Le February 17th, 2011 par Joris K. | Guit... art

I often take a look to DeviantArt, it is a place where we can discover a lot of great artists. Some of them touch us more or less, and WillemXSM is an illustrator from Nederland who held all my attention. His hobby is recent because everything started in 2007, and he learned by himself focusing tattoos. His studied in Communication and Multimedia do not have anything to do with this, but he succeeded in creating his own style, taking Old School trend, traditional, and keeping also the New School wave — colorful with a lot of contrasts. For the moment, there is no link with guitar, but Willem is guitarist himself. That helps him to draw guitars or basses without difficulties for his commissions. You can see that he goes into detail keeping for example the original frets number on the neck, and I do not even speak of the reliefs or the shadows! Like a lot of people, music give him his inspiration: “Music translates very well for tattoos since it’s universal and timeless, just like tattoos”. Here is a nice quotation which shows us that music is important for everybody. I invite you to take a look at his gallery, and eventually to contact him if you have a graphical project to realize.

The Fender Custom Shop launches the very first Telecaster again!

Le July 29th, 2010 par Joris K. | Guit... art

A new limited edition arrived in the Fender Custom Shop: the Telecaster Limited Snake Head. Only 60 instruments are available, because this vintage guitar is a part of the 5 models which celebrate the 60th birth of the famous Telecaster, that is what we call “Telebration”. It is moreover a replica of the very first prototype of Telecaster, that Leo Fender took to do demonstrations to guitarists. These last expressed their opinion concerning this innovation, to finally obtain the current Telecaster. You can notice that the head and the design sixty years before were not so polished, but now, that is a relic of $6000.
