The S2 series of PRS Guitars has a brand new model: the PRS S2 Vela. Next to the Mira and the Starla, this one follows the vintage spirit of them thanks to its design, but also thanks to the sound: it includes a (splittable) PRS-Designed Starla humbucker in the bridge, and a PRS-Designed Type-D singlecoil in the neck. This new pickup promises to give some noteworthy bite, that we already feel in the following video. But another new stuff captures our attention, a plate-style bridge with two brass saddles, providing maximum tonal sustain. Paul Reed Smith revisited the effective design of their shapes, reminding the S2 Custom 22 softly bevelled mahogany body, offset and edgy. The PRS S2 Vela will be available soon in seven colors, like this wonderful MacCarthy Tobacco Sunburst, or for example an Antique White a little similar to the Johnny Ramone Mosrite Mark II. The price was not announced, but we can suppose it would be between 1200 and 1600€ if we look at the Mira and the Starla’s prices.
